Devotions by Kids

By Samuel and Jason Upton

Jason a Christian songwriter shared on a DVD how he was talking with his young son Samuel one day. Samuel asked him, can I write a song with you? His dad said sure so…he started with “Hey Jesus”…and after awhile this is what resulted.

Hey Jesus,
Are you still on the cross
Or are you feeling better?

Hey Jesus,
Come play with me
I’m ready and willing

Won’t you come
Down, down, down,
Down to the ground

To the next to me place
With a smile on my face
And a song in my ear

Around and around
and around and around
and around we go

Hey Jesus,
When I wave at you
Do you wave back too?

Hey Jesus,
When I’m feeling sad
Do you feel sad too?

Won’t you come
Down, down, down,
Down to the ground

To the next to me place
With a smile on my face
And a song in my ear

Around and around
and around and around
and around we go

Hey Jesus,
If we throw these books
Do you think they will fly?

Hey Jesus,
Can I touch the moon
Throw me into the sky

And then I’ll come
Down, down, down,
Down to the ground

To the next to me place
With a smile on my face
And a song in my ear

Around and around
and around and around
and around we go

Happy New Year

Sorry that I have not posted anything for a while My internet access was down so I couldn’t post anything.

BUT

At the start of the New Year I found a U-tube video that reflects God’s joy and His love for all the people of the world and His desire that everyone come to know Him. A young man Matt had the idea to go around the word and invite people to dance with him. The result is awesome. As you watch the video point to all the places on the map that he visited. Did he dance in your country? Why not join him in the dance… wherever you are!

Happy New Year!

For God so Loved THE WORLD that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3 :16

I danced in the morning when the world was young
I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun
I came down from heaven and I danced on the earth
At Bethlehem I had my birth

Dance, dance, wherever you may be
I am the lord of the dance, said he
And I lead you all, wherever you may be
And I lead you all in the dance, said he

“Go into all the world and preach the Good News to all creation.” (Mark 16:15)
Let us make that something we focus on this year!

*Where is Matt 2008 was 14 months in the making, 42 countries, and a cast of thousands. Make sure to click “watch in high quality” right underneath the video

I have a dream

It isn’t wrong to have things or to be rich. But it is wrong to be ungrateful for what we have and complain. We don’t need to feel guilty for having material things such as the things seen in this video clip. But it is wrong when we don’t do our part to help alleviate the suffering in the world. We cannot do everything and God doesn’t ask us to. But we are responsible for the piece of the puzzle that God gives us to take care of. Even though you are young you can do your part. Look at some of the Yopps heard sections of the Blog. and see what other kids have done.

When Jesus comes back He isn’t going to ask us, “Were you a part of the largest church?” or “Did you get 100% on your math test?” or “Did you use your abilities to entertain a lot of people?” These are not wrong things at all. BUT in the long run the little things that show what your heart is like win out in significance. They are all the kinds of things that YOU can do! Look around you and take a hold of the piece of the puzzle that God has highlighted to you.

Lets have a look at Mathew and the story of: the Sheep and the Goats
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’

Amon from Rwanda had a dream. God has a dream. What is your dream? With God’s help you can do what ever He asks you to do and make a difference.

  • Ask the Lord Jesus to highlight some one this Christmas season.
  • Ask Him what you can do for that person or situation in Jesus name.
  • Ask Him to let you really KNOW him, because when you do you will want to act just like He does.

He Reigns

Psalm 8:2 From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise… to silence the foe and the avenger.

A week or so ago we spoke about the power of speaking out God’s truth, and declaring His praises. At about that time a number of kids and leaders went to the National House of Prayer in Ottawa to pray for our nation and whatever else God put on their hearts. One morning we asked some of the kids to plan and lead worship. They didn’t know what we had felt was God’s direction, but the first song that they chose was He Reigns by the Newsboys. This totally reflected what was on our hearts.

Why not join them today and declare His praises from wherever you are on the earth!

Its all God’s children singing
Glory Glory Hallelujah
He reigns

The Good Shepherd

Hearing God’s Voice

We have learned a number of times how Jesus only did what he heard the Father doing, How He listened and obeyed.
Also how we are to listen to and obey God’s voice in like manner. Often Jesus referred to himself as the Good Shephard, as an analogy of how He watches over you and I.

Well last weekend I was at a sheep farm not far from where I live and we took some pictures. The shephard shared how the different ways that the Bible talks about sheep are so true. For example if he climbs over the gate the sheep will run, because the Shephard goes in by the gate, not over the gate… Read John 10: 1 to see why.

Watch this u-tube video we put together and enjoy. The song is by Keith Green “The Lord is my shephard., from Ps. 23. alt : http://www.youtube.com/v/wjtoMPxqsnk&hl=en

Advent

Did you know that the four weeks before Christmas are often called the Advent season?
The word Advent means ” coming” or “arrival.” The focus of the entire season is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ in His first advent, and also looking forward to the return of King Jesus in his second advent.

Check out this You tube clip. As you do ask the question, “What posture are we to have during this time?”

alt : http://www.youtube.com/v/RGKdsOi3G0c&rel=1
Did you catch these? Watchfulness, expectation, repentance, preparation, transformation, reconciliation, celebration, hope, joy, FOR WHAT? that God would dwell among us. EMMANUEL, one of Jesus’s names means “God with us.” That God’s Kingdom would come to earth.  Isn’t that what we have talked about and learned more about?

Pray that you would prepare your hearts to really celebrate Christmas this year. Pray KINGODM COME! YOUR will be done on earth as it is in heaven!
